Maus Bytes

I love subway. I personally love the Italian BMT on Honey Wheat and if that’s all I had to live off of, and every other food chain went into a franchise war and lost and became a Subway I’d be in total heaven! No 80mgs of fat per hamburger, no over-salted 350 calorie french fries. Just cold cut sandwich heaven! Yeah, Okay, and Doritos, but that’s not the point! The point is that they have healthy yummy goodness and I like it. So just about every time I have a doctors appointment, that’s where I go to pick up lunch.

Well, the 15th of June, I had a Rheumy appointment and  afterward, went to Subway. It was quite slow since it wasn’t an afternoon lunch rush yet.  I got greeted by two girls that I had yet to see there before. The lady that’s always there was in the back doing other stuff. As I finished confusing the hell out of them, even though everything was pretty much the same, I went to pay. I gave them a choice, cash or plastic. I really wanted to break the hundred dollar bill I had, but they couldn’t do it since they already did their money thing and took it to the bank. So I gave her my debit card.

Now. Let me remind you. I don’t have money, hardly ever, because I never go out. My credit union in California always sent me a new  debit card when it was time. I have never had a bank, thus figured they would do the same, so I never even bothered to check the expiration date. “It says it’s expired.” I looked at the girl a moment, took the card, and really really wanted to put it in my mouth and chew on it until it spat out my money I had just put in there. March ’09 it said. “I was just there! Why didn’t they tell me i needed a new one!?” And as the lady walks by, eight people now in line, I blurt out, “Bastards!”

I believe pretty much everyone was laughing by then, especially the lady who announced out of all her customers, I was the least she would expect to have something like that come out of my mouth.
